Watchmaking Context

Designed by Louis Cartier in 1912, the Tortue was the third shaped watch from the house, after the Santos (1904) and the Tonneau (1906), and predates the Tank. Its name comes from its tonneau silhouette with softened curves, evoking a turtle shell. It brings together the codes that would become Cartier's signature: Roman numerals, railway minute track, blued sword hands, cabochon crown. Initially a simple watch, it also lent itself to complications – including the 1928 monopusher chronograph. Available in numerous sizes and materials, from gold to full diamond settings, it remains one of the house's most sought-after shapes.

Personality

A small women's model, this jewellery version of the Tortue sparkles with diamonds that follow the curve of the case, encircling the dial without breaking its line up to the lugs. It is as much a piece of jewellery as it is a timepiece.

Watch serviced. Very good condition. Delivered with a new strap, the brand's box, and the 24-month Contre-Temps warranty certificate.
