White porcelain dial, black Roman numerals, black baton hands, railway minute track, date aperture at 3 o'clock. Sapphire crystal. Horological context

The Golden Ellipse was introduced by Patek Philippe in 1968 with the reference 3548. Its oval silhouette follows the golden ratio — 1:1.618 proportions inherited from the Divina Proportione — and inaugurated a new family of cases at Patek, neither round nor square. Ref. 3991, launched in the 1980s, offered a quartz variant with the in-house calibre E23C. A distinctive feature of this reference: the Clous de Paris bezel — emblematic signature of the Calatrava — adorns the Ellipse silhouette here, in an aesthetic crossing between the two flagship lines of the manufacture.

Character

Exceptional configuration: steel is rarely used on the Ellipse lineage, almost entirely produced in gold at Patek Philippe. The E23C is an in-house quartz calibre developed by Patek, finished to the same standards as the manufacture's mechanical movements. Porcelain dial with classical Roman numerals, Clous de Paris bezel and original signed leather strap.
