Watchmaking Context

Founded in 1874 in La Côte-aux-Fées, in the Neuchâtel Jura, by Georges Piaget, the maison initially supplied movements before signing its own watches under its name in the mid-20th century. Piaget became the specialist in ultra-thin watches: in 1957, the calibre 9P was released, a manual-wind movement measuring two millimeters thick; it was followed in 1960 by the automatic 12P with micro-rotor, which was then the thinnest in the world at 2.3 mm. This expertise freed the designers, who multiplied dress and jewelry watches in precious metals—hard stone dials, Clous de Paris bezels, and extremely slim cases. The 1970s pushed this freedom toward color and shape: curved cushion cases to hug the wrist, bold-colored dials, hard stones, or lacquer, far from the sobriety expected of a dress watch.

Personality

A totally assertive creation from the maison, with its faceted hands that shift from dark to light depending on the angle of the light, centered on a dial as sunny as a dawn over the sea. The case curves to hug the wrist and keep the thinness flush against the skin.

Watch serviced. Very good condition. Delivered with a Contre-Temps box and a 24-month Contre-Temps warranty certificate.
