Horological context

Patek Philippe was founded in Geneva in 1839 by Antoni Patek and Jean Adrien Philippe. The Gondolo name originates from the watches the maison supplied from the early 1900s to the Brazilian retailer Gondolo & Labouriau of Rio de Janeiro. Officially revived by Patek Philippe in 1993 as a collection gathering its form watches, the term applies by extension to earlier tonneau, cushion and rectangular pieces, among them Ref. 3528 of the 1960s and 1970s. The Gemma qualifier — Italian for gem — designates within this nomenclature the jewelled variants set with stones. Ref. 3528/4 condenses the design codes of the 1970s: ultra-thin tonneau architecture, all-gold construction from case to clasp, integrated mesh bracelet hugging the wrist, and diamond-set sides as the signature of dress form watches of the decade.

Character

Jewelled variant of Ref. 3528, defined by its diamond-set sides flanking the dial and matching mesh bracelet, in ultra-thin configuration.
